We have a direct-hire position for a Vice President of Technology with one of our clients in Glendale Heights, IL. No third party candidates considered for this position.

The Vice President of Technology (VPT) will provide strategic and operational leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology and system functions. This role is responsible for leading and managing the information technology team while partnering with business stakeholders to successfully meet the organization’s goals. This role will establish and drive strategic initiatives from ideation to execution to meet both short-term and long-term technology goals that will enable the business to deliver upon our mission and purpose.

Job Duties

  • Develop and execute the technology strategy to support the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. 
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive innovation and ensure technology is leveraged to create competitive advantages.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new information technologies and systems to improve company processes and decision-making. i.e. AWS, cloud-based solutions, etc.
  • Serve as a lead for security certifications for the company (i.e. SOC2). 
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, networks, and hardware, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security. This includes the design, deployment, and management of both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure. 
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices to protect organizational assets and information.
  • Identify and partner with critical vendors to support the completion of necessary projections essential to the business. Ensure vendors are staying on schedule and within budget.
  • Monitor and track key technology projections championing results and adherence to deadlines. Communicate with stakeholders on realistic completion dates and any delays or obstacles.
  • Ensure that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the company’s business plan and vision.
  • Partner with all departments to determine how technology can best support department specific needs.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement IT policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations; act as the primary safeguard for information resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in information systems hardware, software, applications, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • 10+ years of career experience in technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading a technical team at least 15+ employees.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in technology.
  • Experience leading a Technology Department that supports multiple facilities.
  • Dynamic leadership and management experience of multi-disciplined teams with various priorities.
  • 5+ years of experience managing products, budgets and justifying resource needs to senior leaders and finance partners.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, AWS, Windows, and SQL.
  • Experience developing code in C# languages (preferred).
  • Experience managing company-wide IT infrastructure and cybersecurity.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Top 5 skills + years in each

  • Experience with on-prem to AWS migration.
  • Strong background development. Cyber security and infrastructure knowledge followed closely next.
  • Previous experience leading a diverse IT team around the same size.
  • MBA is a big plus.
