Network Engineer II

Job Description

We have a position for a Network Engineer II with one of our clients in Virginia Beach, VA for an initial contract duration of 1 year. No third party candidates considered for this position.

Purpose:           

• Responsible for engineering and documenting telecommunication network systems to deliver voice, video, data, and wireless services across regional and national converged networks. Responsible for designing, planning, and implementing projects focused at delivering Native Ethernet and IP Services delivered over fiber optic network.  Accountable for maintaining a customer service order queue and completing tasks within designated timelines.   

Major Tasks:    

• Prepares cost estimates to deliver Ethernet and IP services across the Client MPLS Network.
• Develops and maintains detailed network designs and documentation including Methods of Procedure and Engineering Specifications.
• Maintains network asset and circuit inventory databases (Granite).
• Provides technology analysis on assigned segments of networked telecommunications systems to include assessment and planning.
• Prepares the technical specifications, development, and integration of peripheral systems involving multiple telecommunications technologies supporting IP voice, video, data and other information.
• Provides network planning as it relates to Access Network which includes all access rings including central office and customer premise equipment.
• Recommends hardware and software upgrades in order to support customer service orders.
• Assists Sales Engineering in preparation of proposals, sales calls, and presentations.
• Analyzes network vulnerabilities and develops plan of action to minimize risks.
• Produces weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports as needed.
• Analyzes bandwidth utilization to determine if network upgrades are required. 
• Facilitates capacity verification to identify network availability during pre-sale analysis.
• Shares technical knowledge and skills with other team members to develop team members’ capabilities.
• Knowledge of Micro Soft Office Suite.
