Litigation Paralegal
with one of our clients in
Cleveland, OH
for an initial contract duration of
6 months.
No third party candidates considered for this position.
Our Client is seeking a litigation paralegal in our Cleveland office to assist attorneys in litigating real estate matters involving the acquisition and protection of interstate and intrastate natural gas pipeline rights of way and associated infrastructure.
Responsibilities (A Day in the Life)
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle, along with a general familiarity of title review. Performing a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks, this individual will work directly with attorneys on federal and state condemnation work. They will maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars and Excel spreadsheets; electronically file documents with the court under the supervision of an attorney; perform online research; and prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions when needed. Other responsibilities include reviewing title reports and pulling pertinent information to draft offer letters; handling routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, clients, and property owners; and attend hearings with attorneys to assist with handling relevant data.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses strong organizational skills, well-developed critical thinking skills, is very detailed oriented, has a working knowledge of Excel, has a strong sense of accountability, takes ownership over projects and responsibilities, resolves issues proactively, and knows how to be a true team player. This individual is also a technology pro and has no problem learning new software.
2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education.
Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs
Responsibilities:
- Assist with litigation cases from start to finish.
- Manage court deadlines, case calendars, and Excel trackers.
- E-file documents in federal and state courts.
- Conduct legal research (Westlaw/online tools).
- Draft pleadings, motions, and notices.
- Review title reports and assist with offer letters.
- Communicate with courts, attorneys, clients, and property owners.
- Attend hearings with attorneys when needed.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years litigation paralegal experience in a law firm.
- Experience with litigation lifecycle and court filings.
- Familiarity with title review / real estate matters preferred.
- Strong organization, detail orientation, Excel, and tech skills.
- Team player with proactive problem-solving ability.
Education:
- Associate/Bachelors degree or Paralegal certificate (experience may substitute).
