Job Description
Infrastructure Automation Engineer works in a challenging and fast-paced environment, supporting the business in day-to-day operations, as well as facilitating business changes. Primary responsibilities are to develop, maintain, continuously improve, and support both internal and client-facing IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, Active Directory, disaster recovery, and server level application support through the use of automation.
This is hybrid position, that requires working one day onsite in the Duluth, Georgia office and working remotely the other days of the week.
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure:
- Demonstrate SME level knowledge in multiple automation and scripting systems (Powershell, Ansible, Ansible Tower, Terraform, PowerCLI)
- Ability to lead the implementation of major automation projects
- Research and identify the most appropriate options for the delivery of a stable and efficient infrastructure through automation, scripting, and testing
- Help design the architecture of the required automation solutions
- Maintain and test Business Continuity plans and systems using automation
- Contribute to the overall quality of service delivered to internal users and clients.
Continuous improvement:
- Contribute toward design improvements that allows for more efficient support of the environment, applications, and clients
- Actively contribute to increasing the availability of our services by providing iterative improvements to existing infrastructure solutions
- Researching and implementing automated processes that increase the stability and efficiency of the infrastructure
- Review best practices and standards and find ways to implement these to improve our systems
Design:
- Develop scripts and automation jobs to aid in the implementation of patching and vulnerability remediation
- Plan and develop infrastructure to support automation
Break\Fix:
- Develop scripts and automation jobs to aid in the implementation of patching and vulnerability remediation
- Develop automation to assist in the diagnosis and remediation of daily break fix issues
Required Skills
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- 4-5 years of experience
- SME level knowledge of Ansible, Ansible Tower, Terraform and Powershell
- Virtualization knowledge specifically in the areas of administration and PowerCLI
- Windows automation experience with Powershell. Working specifically with AD infrastructure and servers
- Understanding of application installation and automated deployments
- Proven ability to collaboratively pursue issue resolution and push for long term and permanent solutions to on-going problems
- Understanding of fundamental computer architecture, networking, virtualization, storage, and operating system concepts
- Linux and Windows Administration experience
- Experience with Git, Jenkins, and Jira.
- Experience with YAML, Python, Perl, Powershell, PowerCLI.
- 3-4 years VMware experience
- 3-4 years Windows Active Directory
- 2-3 years Virtualization technologies
- 2-3 Automating manual tasks
- 1-2 years experience with Git and GitHub
- 3-5 years scripting (batch, Powershell, Ansible, Python)
- Experience with a ticketing system
- Experience with Data Center on-call
- Experience supporting over 25 servers
- Nutanix Experience
- Enterprise monitoring experience (Dynatrace, Nagios)
- Experience with enterprise documentation
- Problem solving
